Hi all, I am new here and have loved reading so many of the forum topics!
I just wanted to share a story that has remained so close to my heart and my funny bone!
There was a private country club lake I used to fish many years ago. It was and I am sure still is a fantastic lake in the mid-west, Huge bass, catfish, crappie, and last but not least,-- carp (Eisenhauer Bass lol).
I was fishing a cove of lilly pads one day for bass with a jig and craw worm, and also had a pole in a rod holder with a big ole night crawler on the bottom at the edge of the pads. This cove was formed by what we called picnic point, where all the (nothing personal!!) yuppie country clubbers had their outdoors gatherings. I was jigging when I looked down and saw my bottom rod dancing. I ran over and pulled the rod out of the holder and watched it almost double over. I hooked into a 17 lb carp! I had played and fought the carp for several minuets as a very pretty young(30ish) lady came over to watch. She had her brilliant white tennis shorts and blouse with like new rebock tennis shoes on. I can still see her like it was yesturday lol. I would get the carp up to the shore and it would turn and run back through the pads, I did this several times, then one time the carp came close to the bank---- SPLASH--- the young lady jumped right in the water up to her thighs bent over and scooped that slimey old carp right up to her boosum, turned and managed through the mud and muck up to the bank and dropped the carp on the shore!! I dont know how many times my jaw bounced off the ground!! She climbed out of the water mud to her knees and a deep golden slime from the v in her blouse to the bottom of her shorts, exclaiming how she couldnt stand to see me loose that fish!! I made sure she knew that it was a carp thinking all along,to myself, I am going to have to keep this thing lol. Which I did, we filleted it, scored it and fried it in a couple of different batters for fathers day, and it was actually very good! I will never forget her dedication to fishing!!
Any how I look forward to future readings and communications with all of you! I hope you enjoyed my story as much as I enjoy telling and remembering it!
