We still have plenty of openings. Hurry before the dogs come into town. We had great ground fishing for the last couple of weeks, some days better than others, with many days better than 100 fish! Forecast for the next few days looks great, come out for a great day for fishing.

Leave the dock by 5 or 6am, be back by 2 or 3pm with fillets in the bag.

Dave

Fished with the girlfriend out of Cape Ann Marina, with Capt. Dave Carraro on the Tuna.Com for Cod on Thursday 5-22-08.

This was the first Cod trip for me, and only the second trip on the Ocean for the girlfriend.

Well let me tell you..... it was non stop drop and reel fishing for the entire trip!!!

We left the slip at around 5:30am, and Capt. Dave had us anchored up in 180 feet of water, just 25 minutes out of the slip, on some marks he read on the bottom. I dropped the first line with a HUGE jig & grub teaser combo. The jig hit bottom, and on the third lift I was hooked up with the big fish of the day a 25+lb Cod!!! It never let up from there, as we switched over to clams and simply bailed fish all morning until we had a 3 man limit of Cod (30) by 10:00am. These were quality fish, with most of the Cod going at least 15lbs and up, with about 10 or so going over 20lbs. We also had a dozen nice Haddock the biggest Haddock going 12+lbs. I caught a huge Wolf Fish 20+lbs. What a prehistoric looking beast, teeth sticking out of everywhere!!!! We also released at least 20-30 short Cod that just missed the mark.

Let me tell you, I've fished all up and down the East coast on Charters and Party boats, and Capt. Dave does a first class job!! Nice clean boat (31' JC Down East Sport Fisherman), quality tackle and fresh bait. He put us on the fish and kept the chum bag going to keep the fish under the boat. What a great first experience for the girlfriend.

Already have a second trip booked with Capt Dave for next month (June), and can't wait!!!!

I'll be posting some pics as soon as I figure out how to get them on here.

Yesterday, 6-2 we had our limit of cod and were back at the dock at 12:30 and today it was not as good, but good none the less. Most cod were in the 10 - 20 lb range with a few haddock in the mix. Best on bait for numbers, but the bigger fish were taken on jigs.
