Fishing Report: This is a report where I really don't know where to start.
Devin Ranck called me a few weeks back and booked a 6 hr trip for
today March 18 2010.Devin works out of the Country but makes his home
in Central FL and he was coming home for a short vacation and wanted to book
a Trophy Bass Trip as he was still looking for that 10 LB Trophy Bass.
I met Devin at the boat ramp this morning at 7 am and we were fishing by
7:15 am.First shiner to enter the water was inhaled by a 9 1/4 pound fish
close but not 10 pounds. Then things got really crazy and this is where I am
going to have trouble remembering every detail. But here we go.
Devin started catching a fish on every shiner put in the water and they just
kept getting BIGGER and BIGGER.Neither Devin or myself have a clue
as to how many fish were caught for a total but what we do know is
how many were between 8 and 10.8 pounds and that number is 10 FISH.
These are the fish that were weighed on my Boga Grip Certified Scale
and photo's were taken of each fish.
Weighs were
10.8 , 10.0, 9.12, 9.8, 9.8, 9.4 8.12, 8.8, 8.8 8.4
I know this is hard to believe and I am very happy that my very good friend
Hank Gallagher was on the river close by and seen Devin catching big fish
after big fish.Hank finally came over and parked his boat to watch the

Fishing Report: Lady Pamela II Sportfishing Charters
Fort Lauderdale, Florida

March 13th, 2010
Luckily, this morning started off much better than the past few days, weather wise. The rain said adios and the wind made a 360, blowing out of the southwest. Seas were finally calm offshore and the sun was shining bright, which makes for a very pleasant fishing charter in Fort Lauderdale. Bob Gatesy joined Captain Paul and me for another fishing trip aboard the Lady Pamela II in South Florida. Bob fishes with us year after year and has become a friend of the crew. Once we hit the flat calm open water, we trolled south down the reef and noticed no activity. Captain Paul decided to move to a shipwreck where I expertly positioned a bait on the bottom, the bite was nearly instant. A nice size Almaco Jack ate and went in the fish box for Bob’s fresh fish dinner. After a few pictures, we dropped down bait number two and hooked an Amberjack that didn’t give in easily. We skillfully released the Amberjack and relocated to do some Big Game Shark Fishing.
I realize Game Sharks have been the main subject in many of my daily reports, but the large migratory sharks such as Hammerhead’s, Thresher’s and Bull Sharks have really been pouring through the Fort Lauderdale area offshore. Fresh, bloody King Mackerel and petite, whole Bonito fish really tend to turn these marine monsters on. When

Fishing Report: Fishing has been a bit on the erratic side. There has been a consistent wind out of the West and Northwest which has pushed dirty green water on the edge. There has also been a lack of strong North current which is a major key to good sailfishing. On the other hand, since my last report, we have had a few days with north wind and strong north current and clean blue water.
Those days we caught as many as 8 sailfish in one day. Even with the green water and slow current, on average though, we still have been managing one or two sailfish per trip. As we get more into spring the prevailing winds from the east and southeast should resume and that will definitely clean the water up and bring in some better Gulfstream water with north current. Last year, the spring sailfish bite was epic and we had many double digit days in April and May. Those days will be here soon.
There have been some kingfish around and that should only get better with bigger and more kings each day. The dolphin bite has been erratic as well and one day you may catch 10 or more dorado and then not even see one for a few days. This should also improve and April is usually the month that we see the biggest dorado on the edge.
The one thing that has been plentiful have been the bonitas. Although not very edible, they are great fun on light tackle. At times they may seem like a nuisance, especially as you are waiting for a sailfish bite, they do bend the rod and can

Fishing Report: I spent the past three days with a great father son team.Pat and Shane
of Knoxville TN.The weather was not perfect by any means but we made the
best of this trip and the guys caught some very nice fish each day.
Dad Pat was the big fish winner catching an 11 .4 and a 9 even but it was
Shane that got the fish count to 45 fish during these three 6 hr trips.
We had to deal with winds gusting to 45 MPH two days in a row and water
temps dropping back into the upper 50's each day after getting as high as
70 over the past weekend. We took a little time each day to do some artificial
fishing and caught a few fish casting a swimbait around the main river padfields.

Fishing Report:
The past three days have been as good as it gets here in Central Florida
for Trophy Bass Fishing. My clients Pat and Shawn from New Orleans
timed this trip with perfection.Day one Fri 3/12 started out with rain rain and
more rain.We had 65 shiners on this day and we were out of bait by 1 pm with
a total of 30 fish in 6 hrs of fishing.Sat 3/13 we had a big change in weather
and were handed 25 to 35 MPH Winds with the Sanford Airport reporting
gust to 41 MPH from the SW.This day was totally different with weather
but the fishing got better with 88 shiners there were 40 fish caught.
Day 3 Sun 3/14 we planned to fish 6 hrs as Pat and Shawn were making
the 10 hr drive home after fishing.A total of 54 shiners were taken on this trip
and they produced 15 fish.
Now for the best part of this report. The size and the numbers of fish were unreal.
In a total of 22 hrs fishing time for the three days 85 fish were caught.
That is an average of 3.87 fish per hour.
The size of these fish was super.
Two over 10 pounds
Three over 9 pounds
Five over 8 pounds
and 40 fish between 5 and 8 pounds.
Pat and Shawn I would like to thank you for spending three of the best days
in my 30 years of guiding with me!! You were SUPER!!!!

Fishing Report: Wednesday morning, 3/3, was chilly and windy but my brave party of three lady-anglers, Alene Haug, her mother, Carrie and friend, Connie, decided to give the backwaters a try anyway. We caught and released sheepshead until the ladies decided they'd had enough cold, then we headed back for shore.
Thursday morning, I fished Estero Bay with John Kenney and his eight-year-old son, Anthony. We had to bundle up and try to stay out of the wind as best we could, but we had fun using live shrimp to catch and release seven sheepshead to 12 inches, three trout to just short of15 inches, and a 16-inch whiting.
My trip for Friday cancelled, as two in the party wanted to wait for better conditions and warmer temperatures.
By Monday morning, 3/8, a nice warming and calming trend was in effect. I fished 20 miles west of New Pass in 45 feet with Bob Wojtowicz, his son, Greg, and grandson, Josh, along with family friend, Bob Bradley. We used live shrimp and caught keeper mangrove snapper, sheepshead, porkfish and jolthead porgies. We released triggerfish shorts, as well as lots of red and gag grouper, the largest of which was a 26 ½ inch gag, caught by Bob Bradley. Grouper season re-opens April 1st.
Tuesday morning, I sure was happy to see calm seas for long-time customer Ron Musick. So far this season, Ron had tried to get out offshore nine times and had been foiled by weather each time. But Tuesday was a good day for Ron and his

Fishing Report: Signs of Snook alive on the flats
The cold weather and wind continues to hamper fishing but on a recent trip I found some good news to report. It was a cold and windy day with partly cloudy skies. The fish had not cooperated at all.
Trips up a favorite canal and some favorite flats had produced only on sea trout. It was spotted flushing out of some mangroves. I also saw one gar about 20 inches long swimming along the shoreline.
Numerous blind casts had produced nothing. Then, a huge black image appeared in the distance and I could tell there were some fish moving towards me. To my surprise it was a school of snook. The fish ranged from an estimated 15 inches to maybe 24 inches. They were swimming slowly, meandering down the shoreline over sandy bottom.

After that first school passed I saw another coming from the same direction and it was obvious they were going to come my way as well. I made a few casts with plastic baits that were summarily ignored. They just swam on by.
In another area I saw three or four larger snook, easily going over 30 inches, warming themselves in the afternoon sun.

Some of the fish looked a little beat up and not so healthy. I wondered what that was all about

Fishing Report: The past two days we have received over 6 inches of rain here in Central FL.
We haven't had lighting with these rains and I have been on the water
both days with clients. The fishing has been unreal to say the least.
Today March 12th I had Pete and Pat in from New Orleans for the first day
of their three day trip.Sometimes you hate to see a three day trip start out
this way because clients tend to think everyday will be the same and most
times that is not the way it works. But Pat has fished with me before and
knows that this was a great day that will be hard to beat.
Pete had the hot hand today catching three fish between 8 and 10 pounds
and between the two fisherman there were 30 bass caught in 7 hrs
we left them biting as we ran through 65 wild shiners in short time.
These Florida Trophy Bass are in full spawn and taking advantage of the
69 degree water temps. The artificial bite is red hot as well.
Large flats off the main river near the backs of pad fields seem to be the beat areas
for artificial fishing at this time
