I used white shad bodies on an umbrella rig and a chartruse parachute rig. Caught most with the umbrella rig. I trolled from james island to the Punch island bar. Report:
Trophy Striped Bass season opened here on the Chesapeake on Saturday, April 19th. My expectations were for a lot of fish as well as a lot of boat traffic. Both expectations were accurate. We have limited out on ever trip so far this season with fish up to 38 Pounds, and fish of 40" or more are being caught on every trip. If you would like to get in on some of the great spring trophy striped bass fishing in 2008, or some summer trips out of Atlantic City, now is the time to book. Just give me a call. Tightlines, Capt. Fishing Report:   Chesapeake Bay striper fishing is happening now.

Sunday Dec. 10, 2006 and Monday Dec. 11, 2006 Gwynn's Island, Hole in the Wall, over to Bouy 42. Lots of boats trolling all over the Bay. I didn't see anyone catch anything.

I saw fish on the fish finder w/ schools of minnows, however I did not even receive one strike in a total of 7 hours of fishing. Would someone please tell me there are fish being caught.

I know that many people would not be fishing in the cold if they were not catching fish.

Fishing Report:   On Thursday 2nd the wind was blowing at about 25 to 30 mph. No fishing this morning, so we went to Bass Pro Shop in Hampton for three hours, great trip need lots of money. Thursday afternoon wind was down to 10 to 15 mph. So we went out, it took a while, and we found some fish 15" to 18" it was worth the trip. Friday 3rd windy in the morning went out at 12:30 or so took a while but we found fish just out side Deltasville off of Cherry Point, (Gwynn's Island) caught fish off and on for about an hour or so. Moved south toward the VIMs Reef by the Hole in the Wall found birds on the water between there and bouy # 5 in 9 to 22 feet of water fish were feeding on the edge of the deep water, caught a few keepers 18" to 21" but caught a lot of throw backs. Fished til dusk. Saturday 4th windy in the morning we went out at about 11:00 am found birds in the same place as we left on friday afternoon we stayed in fish til well after dark, sometime during that time the water became still with no wind, near dark we caught good size fish up to 23" we kept 6 fish. All in all this was a great week of fishing, maybe not the largest fish in the lake, but who cares when you can catch a couple hundred fish almost every day during the week. And this is why I take that same week off every year. "Let's Go Fishing". "Remember Light Tackle It's More Fun".

Fishing Report:   Fishing week of Oct. 29th thru Nov. 4 2006. Fishing on Sunday 29th, windy in the morning, but we caught several nice Rock Fish from 2 to 4 lbs. 15" to 20" late afternoon til dark. Monday 30th nice weather water like glass birds all over the place caught several small fish and a few keepers. Tuesday 31st water had a little chop, we went to Stingray pt. found birds and some small fish, we moved west into an area between Deltasville and Gwynn's Island on the Island side in 18 feet of water and caught several keepers 20" to 22" up to 4/5 lbs. Wednesday 1st, Bay was like glass stayed out all day from Stingray Pt. south to bouy #3 off of the Hole in the wall west to #5 along the sand bars south side 9 to 16 feet of water caught several small Bues and Rock Fish, went in for a hour or so came back out to Bouy #3 east side in 27 feet of water had fish on top and down deep started jigging with swim baits and landed two fish over 8 lbs. This was a welcome gift. Within the next hour we had thousands of birds all around us along with several more boats, and caught smaller fish up to 20" for the next 3 hours til after dark. The rest of the week to follow later. Thanks.

Fishing Report:   Today we welcomed Mr. Rob Hay and friends from PA for a total of 11 anglers. Mr. T. J. Reiber (in rear in group shot) served as 1st Mate today.

Flush with yesterday's successful trip, as we slithered on down to "The Gooses" to try some light spinning tackle chumming - IT happened. You see, the fishing gods have not yet plagued me enough this Summer, what with the on again, off again chumming, or the mates playing FHide the Kielbasa", or the intense heat, or the "Weekend Warriors" with their dragging their anchors through my chum slick, or the no shows/no calls, or the Cownose Rays, or the sailboats, etc… Another spike through my heart today…that's right, contraband - the forbidden fruit it starts with a "B".

Oh yeah, Cap, I've got a whole bunch of them right here, would ya like one – ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't need to tell you what happened, do I?

Well we struggled, and we struggled, and not before and until the ritualistic performance of the requisite on board Jil Carrie Banana Exorcism did we finally get our act together. Our limit of 22 obese Striped Bass ("Rockfish") ranging from 18"- 23" plus our boat fish was certainly a chore today. We also caught a few Snapper Bluefish. We also released a few undersized Rockfish. We also released 2 Cownose Rays.

Then we bottom fished at Holland Point on the way back to the wharf. We caught a nice mix of nice White Perch, Jumbo Norfolk "Slab"

Fishing Report:   I fished on 5/27,5/28, and 6/4 using crippled herring jigging spoons. The rock have been stacked up along the 35 ft edge out from taylors island. Fishing has been great, nonstop action, sizes from 16" to 22". This area has been holding fish since 5/15. Also don`t overlook the manmade reef.

Fishing Report:   Today was our 6th trip of the 2006 Summer/Fall campaign and our 10th trip out of the wharf at Drury’s Marina. It was also our fifth day of light tackle chumming for the year. We will be light tackle fishing out of this wharf through June 12th. We’ll be back to our home port in Deale starting June 13th light tackle fishing for a real long Summer and early Fall run from the wharf at the “Happy Harbor”.

Our trip today was a group put together by Mr. Gary Sullivan and his crew from VERIZON for a total of 8 anglers. T.J. Reiber of NOVA served as 1st Mate (not pictured). The Red Hot Smokin’ Potatoe of light spinning tackle fishing continues with BIG PIGS still in the chumming grounds!!!

We chummed at The Triangle. We kept our limit of 17 portly Striped Bass (“Rockfish”) up to a whopping 28” (our limit plus our boat fish). We also released several undersized Rockfish. We also caught 1 Snapper Bluefish. What great sport on a light tackle!!!

But the big story today was that we learned a new fish dance – “Do THE JAY” - Whooooooaaaaaaaaaaaa - You like this PIG on a light tackle?

Fishing Report:   Ahhhh…Opening Day for Maryland Spring Trophy Rockfish Season. The Armada of boats was absolutely hideous and the unwashed masses at an all time low. I’ve been after the MDDNR to do Opening Day on a Monday for what seems to be forever. Gunwale to gunwale of every craft imaginable. Planer boards set hundreds of feet from the boats, kayaks, zodiacs, sailboats, cabin cruisers, dingys, surfboards, inner tubes AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!! Oh, for the solace of a long range deep drop Atlantic Ocean wreck. The longing for not seeing a single representative of the multitudes of the unwashed masses for months at a time. Clean, crystal, aqua blue Atlantic Ocean water, 15 different species in each trip, Dolphins, anglers setting their poles down and quitting because their arms are so sore from catching fish - they’re going to fall off, Porpoises, World records, whales, mermaids….RING< RING< Hey Croakerhead, it’s Opening Day, wake up, wake up…

OK, I’m awake, I’m going, I’m going…Ahem…We are now fishing out of the wharf at the “Happy Harbor” in our home port of Deale, MD until May 7, 2006. Today, we welcomed our traditional Opening Day group known as “The Legends of The Bay”, not because of their world famous and well known fishing prowess, rather for their great stories. These stories, much like a fine wine, grow even grander over time. What a pleasure it was to have Mr. Dennis W. “Ed” Greenway of Temple Hills, our longest standing (and oldest) customer aboard today. And

Fishing Report:

Virginia Beach Striper Fishing

We are now fishing out of VA Beach from out of Lynnhaven Inlet through the middle of April 2006. Today, we welcomed Jim Boland Sr., Jim Boland Jr. & friends for a total of 5 anglers. The brisk NE sea conditions in the morning were a bit choppy, but it settled down as the day went on. T.J. Reiber served as 1st Mate today (kneeling in foreground in group picture).

We trolled at Cape Henry. We worked our butts off to keep our limit of 10 corpulent Striped Bass (“Rockfish”) ranging from 31” up to a whopping 45”/34.25 lb. PIG, which is our biggest fish so far in the Winter ’05 - ‘06 season (see below picture). We also caught and kept 2 boat Rockfish for the Christmas dinner table and released 6 undersized Rockfish to fight another day.

We will be taking the next 3 days off to be with our families for Christmas. The Jil Carrie crew will be back at ‘em on Monday, 12/26/05. Merry Christmas to all from Capt. Jim and the crew!
