Fishing Report: Sanibel Island Fishing
Perfect weather for fishing around Sanibel Island.
The New Moon in November, and great weather conditions, have the Snook, Redfish, and Trout feeding.
This is that time of year when you can go out fishing and its not too hot, and not too cold.
Low tides have the redfish looking for crabs in our beautiful grass flats.
Strong incoming water is the key to get these fish tailing and moving around the flats for food.
As the water gets higher and following the tide up on the flats, marble bottoms with sunshine are great spots for Snook, and Trout, waiting in ambush for their next meal.
Sandbars near the passes hold all kinds of bait.
Bluefish and Mackerel are on the attack all around these pods of bait.
Reports from offshore say the fishing is great also.
Happy Thanksgiving and See Ya on the water!

Fishing Report: Saturday was a welcomed relief. We have had some incredibly intense winds for the past week or so. The winds had finally begun to lay back towards the end of last week. Roberto Lopez, a local from the SW Kendall area, wanted to treat his son, Roberto Lopez, to a fishing trip for his excellent academic scores. Little Roberto is 14 and a freshman at Coral Reef High School. The weather looked good so we booked the date.
We all met at the dock a little early and the two Roberto’s hung back while Devon and I loaded and prepped the boat. Everything ready, we told the double R’s to come aboard. Devon directed them to the dry storage for their personal bags and the iced cooler for their food and drinks. The Suzuki’s were purring as I guided the big “Cat” out of the slip. I discussed the normal routine and possible expectations for the day as we idled, like a herd of turtles, down the manatee zoned channel.
I throttled up on the 600 ponies and The BEAST let out a growl as we came up on plane. At cruise speed she went back to purring and I pointed her toward one of our favorite Hardtail spots. We stopped there and picked up a dozen or so baits before we headed out for some Ballyhoo. You can never have too much bait and it’s not a bad thing to have different types as well. Once again I ponied up and headed for the ‘hoo patches. Arriving there about 15 minutes later, Devon set out the chum bag and cut some bait. The Bally’s were slow in

Fishing Report: Hernando Beach Gulf Grouper Deep Sea Fishing Report
Unbelievable Gag grouper fishing west of Hernando Beach Florida. We are having a great time catching Gag grouper this fall. So many keeper size grouper being caught we have to stop at our limit and move on to other types of fishing. Most of the common areas like the Tanks, Richardson Reef, Martins Reef, and the Concrete Ruble are holding a lot of Gag grouper. Be prepared to use a lot of bait. There are still thousands of short Red and Gag grouper in the area eating us up. It is not uncommon to catch over a hundred short grouper in a day and use fifty pounds of Threadfin Herring. The only way to use less bait is to use cut up Grunts and Mullet. Other fish that are around in great quantities are Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, Bonita's, Amberjack, and Red Snapper. The Snapper and Amberjacks are released since the season is now closed. However they are a lot of fun to catch and release since they provide non-stop action due to their immense population. The Kingfish are here now and are scatted in all depths of water. The closest Kingfish we caught lately was in 20 feet of water. It hit knocker rig on the way up when an angler was checking his bait. To his surprise he had to hook the fish in the eye with his circle hook and was able to land the large King with a mono leader. He was reminded by his fishing buddies to buy some lottery tickets after this great catch since luck was truly on his side that day.

Fishing Report: My favorite time of year is finally here! Cooler temperatures mean lot's of redfish. Whether you are fishing Pensacola pass, Destin pass, or Panama City pass, expect to see lot's of bull red action. If you are searching for slot fish then you can't go wrong with hitting any of the upper bay systems. Right now we are seeing schools of hundreds of fish in Panama City's west bay. These fish can be extremely skittish so light line and small baits are key. Also, the smaller the boat the better. You don't want to make your presence known since these fish are getting lot's of fishing pressure. The breakfast point area, muddy bayou bank, and the mouth of all the canals on the north bank are producing good fish. White jerk shad or a 1/8oz gold spoon is the bait of choice. I would suggest going down to 10lb test flourocarbon on some of these fish. They can be very stingy!!
Choctawhatchee bay has just recently became one of my favorite bay systems on the panhandle. Unlike the Panama City fish....the Choctawhatchee bay redfish eat! We were sightfishing singles and doubles all morning catching 1 fish after another. A small bucktail jig or a pearl white jerk shad was the prefered bait. We saw 90% of our fish on the north bank on sandy bottoms. Check out the first pic....it was from today's trip. There is nothing I love more than sightfishing in crystal clear water!
The upper bays in Pensacola are producing quality fish as well. I had a trip on Monday and we

Fishing Report: I'm back from my Deer hunting trip to Ohio and things picked up right
where they left off as far as the fishing. We were greeted this morning with
20 to 25 MPH NW Winds and a lite rain as a cold front moved through.
My clients Father and Son Pat and Matt from WV were cold before we
left the dock.First stop produced a Catfish and a Gar.We moved on to the
second spot and not a single bite, third spot we hit pay dirt and Matt
put the first bass in the boat and what a bass weighing 10 LBS this was
the first Bass Matt has ever caught as he has mostly saltwater fished
Matt then caught 3 more Bass weighing between 3 and 5 pounds Dad
came through at the end with a 3 pounder. The fish were not biting very
well all day as they were hitting the shiners but just not eating them.
We were limited to where we could fish with the strong NW winds
but made the best of a full day of fishing.Large Wild Shiners fished around
main river grass mats were the key. Thanks Pat and Matt for a fun but cold
day on the water. The water temps have dropped down into the mid 60"s
and the fishing should only get better each day.

Fishing Report: Windy Days have dominated the weather this past week. Daily winds down on my dock have been 10-20 with gusts up to 30! This has made getting out on the water tough here on the Mosquito Lagoon. The forecast calls for some cooler temperatures in the days to come, and hopefully a little relief from these winds. Water levels also remain quite a bit higher than average but the water temp is starting to drop. As the water temps continue to cool, it should make for some fine tailing redfish action in the weeks to come.
The key to fishing these blustery days is to fish the leeward edges where the depth is 1-3 feet. As I said in my last report, focusing on the prevailing wind direction will also help you locate cleaner water making it easier to see fish. Focus your search tight to the bank and wherever you see sand holes or drop-offs, you are likely to locate reds and some nice trout! Several trout up to 30” have been seen cruising the shallows these past weeks.
Try tossing a live shrimp or 3” Gulp Shrimp (I like to use the molted shrimp color when the water is off-color) when you locate cruising redfish. They have been eagerly taking them when presented properly ahead and IN FRONT of the fish. Don’t land your lure on his head or as we all know, he will surely spook off.
Fly fishing has been hit and miss this past week. I did manage one successful fly outing with friend and fellow Captain Mike Savedow. We had a great morning

Fishing Report: Cabin fever, needing to fish, but wind does not cooperate
Finally, I have recovered from by crab trap wound enough that the doctor said I could go fishing. It’s been two months off the water and I am ready to go. Only one problem - the weather. The wind has blown and blown and blown. Every scheduled trip has been short-circuited by the constant wind.
Since I have not been able to fish because of the wind I thought I would share a few tips about fishing in the wind. With the wind blowing like it has been lately I am not likely to head out on a fishing trip. However, sometimes you are already out when the wind begins to blow and then you need to make the most of it.
Of course the obvious solution is to find cover behind a causeway or other structure large enough to dampen the force of the wind. If that is not available you might be able to find a creek or canal that offers some protection from the wind.
If no protection is available you just have to use best techniques to make the best of it. Always position the boat so you can cast with the wind. Sometimes that can actually be an advantage by giving you longer casts and the ability to cover more water.
Maybe the most important thing you can do to improve your fishing in windy conditions occurs before your get on the water. If it’s windy you must avoid high arching casts. If your casting style results in the high arching cast you have to realize

Fishing Report: Friday morning, 11/6, Mark Murphey, Tom Stefaniak and Jerry Craig fished with me in Estero Bay. We had a great morning, mostly because of the 32 1/2 inch snook Mark caught on shrimp--It was a beauty, and we were holding our breath when we measured it. Fortunately, it fell 1/2 inch below maximum size (see photo.) The guys also caught some nice keeper sheepshead and mangrove snapper, along with four sand bream. We released crevalle jacks, an 18-inch snook and all but ten of the 35 mangs we caught. The group planned to go have their catch cooked for lunch at Fish House, then to ride back to where they were staying on Marco...probably a long ride for Tom and Jerry, listening to Mark brag the entire time!
Though Friday had been windy, it seemed calm, compared with the winds of Saturday morning. I fished Estero Bay again, this time with Jim and Kytha Eibel and their ten-year-old son, Graham. The high winds made for a tougher time fishing, but we caught three keeper sheepshead and released lots of smaller sheepies, along with snapper and two large stingrays to 20 pounds.
The storm out in the Gulf, north of us, caused our winds to grow stronger and stronger throughout the weekend. The party I was to fish with on Monday decided that even bayside fishing would be too challenging, with wind gusts predicted to reach 30-35 mph, so they deferred their Monday trip. As it turned out, winds laid down pretty nicely that morning and didn’t become gusty until

Fishing Report: I received a call from one of our customers that fished with us last May. “Gimpy”, Ed Conway, wanted to fish a couple of days with us again. He booked Thursday and Saturday. If you remember back to my report from June 1 of this year, Gimpy was the guy who fished 3 days with a cast on his leg. He was minus the cast but still had a slight tell-tale limp.
Thursday arrived and Gimpy was at the dock at 6:30. He brought along a friend from S. Cal. They were beat up from jet lag and staying up all night drinking. Also with them was my favorite of the old group, “Papi” Julio Sr., the 76 year old Viejo from N. Miami. This was going to be fun if nothing else.
The weather forecast was for a passing cool front with a 50% chance of rain and increasing winds from the NNE. We finished prepping at 7 AM and Devon and I unleashed The BEAST from its lair. We exchanged pleasantries and discussed the past trip of a few months earlier. As we idled out through the channel, we noticed acres of mullet being swept by the tides and wind, across the low spots in the jetty. Devon grabbed the cast net and beat it for the casting deck as I positioned The BEAST for a throw. He loaded the net and made a toss. Holy Mullet, Beast-mate! He hit the Mullet Mother-lode! It took both of us to pull the net aboard. Ed and I quickly grabbed the smaller of the baits and put them in the starboard live well, while Devon grabbed a dip net to scoop the bulk of the larger fish

Fishing Report: Lady Pamela II Sportfishing Charters
Fort Lauderdale, Florida

It may not be snowing or below 50, but between the north winds, the blue water and thousands of bait fish, it sure does feel like winter has arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Our first very welcomed cold front has come and gone and was much appreciated by us Fort Lauderdale fishermen. It blew 15-20 out of the northeast and gave us a few cool October afternoons. Not only were the two days extremely refreshing, the Sailfish bite offshore was solid and exactly what we anticipated.
October has provided a mixed bag of fish, from giant Wahoo taking runs to gaffer size Mahi Mahi, Kingfish, Bonito and Blackfin Tuna on the troll. And as November and December approach us, we only expect fishing to improve in South Florida with the Sailfish bite. Large pods of baitfish are chuggin’ it down from the north and the bigger fish tend to follow. Expect to see the Atlantic Sailfish free jumping within feet of the boat and big Dolphin lookin’ to eat your bait. The Ballerina of the Sea puts up a wicked fight and many high fives will be given after the battle.
The Wahoo was definitely a hot item offshore this month. Between the dark, electric blue color above and the shiny, vertical stripes throughout, you can’t mistake this fish especially when it’s smoking your reel. The Lady Pamela II was very

Fishing Report: Our summer like weather has continued here in east central Florida. Water temperatures have been near 80 which has kept much of the baitfish schools around. Big gator trout are returning to the shallow flats and can be seen setting up ambush stations in the shallow sand pockets. These fish are extremely spooky but you can still sight fish for them with soft plastics and flies if you make a stealthy approach. The DOA shrimp has been effective this week on the trout as well as redfish.
Redfish are beginning to school up and this week we encountered several schools with over 100 fish in them. A DOA Baitbuster reeled across the surface resulted in some great topwater strikes with a few double hookups.
Large schools of black drum can be found as well but have been skittish due to heavy fishing pressure. A dead shrimp placed in front of the school is your best bet. If you can find some drum that have not been pressured, a small black crab fly is a good choice.
