Fishing Report: The BIG FISH ARE HERE!!
If you want to catch 100-200 pound yellowfin tuna, now is the time! We just started catching them good last week but the bite will only last about 3 more weeks!!! Thats it! Same thing every year in October! When they show up, we have 3-4 good weeks of fishing then that is it til winter!
We have both boats almost completly open for the next four weeks and it is killing me knowing what I know about how long these fish will stick around! We had to move our trips for this weekend due to 8-10 ft seas, I will be fishing Tuesday then that is almost it, nothing much on the books for a while after that!
For those hard core tuna guys, this is when you want to be out there. I posted a video of one of the 130 pound fish that we caught last week, check it out! Your chance of catching 100+ pound fish doesnt get much better than NOW!
If you are fishing them in your boat, remember to go big on the tackle! I use 130 pound leader, 12/0 to 16/0 hooks! Big bait!! There was a fish over 200 pounds caught by Capt Trey the other day, you need BIG tackle!
Please call or email for info, rates or to book! Also, visit the website for videos!

Fishing Report: Fishing Report for Louisiana & Guatemala
GUATEMALA OFFSHORE REPORT FROM CAPT. EDGAR
After a nice Guatemala Winter that was full of surprises - with the Strike Zone and the Jacpot catching Dorado's, Marlins and Sails - we are preparing for the "High Season" in Guatemala that begins in October.
Sailfish Season starts in October and goes through
May 2010 and as Marlin Magazine cover page said - the
blue & black suit boys hit the Guatemala coasts too -making it the NEW hot place for Marlin as well.
Strike Zone was our first boat to start the season
fishing with our friends Jose Alonzo, Salatiel
Barragan, and Javier Rosales from Mexico this
past Tuesday and it was SWEET! We headed out
at 7 am from Marina Pez Vela as usual and by 8:15 the lines were in the water.
Imagine 7 straight hours fishing!!! WOW between
Dorado's and Sails our friends had a complete
workout. The total count was 6 sails and 15 dorado's - not a bad day at all....
Today was a nice day too - 5 Sails and 1 blue
around 250 pounds. The Marlin - really makes
the day worth it. Just looking at how fast they are and
how he hit the KONA was incredible. The
adrenaline was HIIIIIIIGHHHH!!! Sails were around

Two Day Report
Yesterday Capt. Jason had the pleasure of fishing with Poco Sloss and friends. Capt. Jason picked the guys up at their camp in Proctor's Landing, then headed to the Biloxi Marsh. The guys caught a nice box of fish: 22 reds, 7 speckled trout and 1 flounder. One of the guys has a bad back so, they called it a day a little early.
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Thompson, his friends, Gordon, David, and Bob. I picked them up at their lodge in Shell Beach, then stopped at Campo's for their famous live shrimp. Finally, headed to the Biloxi Marsh to hunt for some trout and reds.
We called it a day around 11:30 with our limit of,25 reds, 30 trout, and 1 flounder. Everyone had a great time. All fish were caught 2' under a popping cork using Campo's live shrimp.
The marsh is alive with lots of fish. So, if you want to catch some fish and have some fun, Fishing Magician Charters is the one. Give us a call.

Venice,La~~~Last Saturday we had a 24 hr trip on the Stress Management with a group out of Mobile, Ala ...They wanted Tuna and they got Tuna.....the bite was on all night with the Blackfin....all you wanted ...The Blackfin were so thick that you could not get the bait to the Yellowfin. They did get three Yellowfin in the box.... It was non-stop action all night long. At one point they had a 400+ lb Mako eating their Blackfin as they were bringing them to the boat, but he not take the bait.
I have the 39' open for a day trip or a 24hr trip this Saturday/Sunday. The big 55' is sick at this point....She is at Seabrook getting a new engine and her yearly freshen up...Strike Zone Too will be back in Venice on Oct 1....You need to book her for a 24 hr luxury offshore trip in October.
Guatemala ~~~ We had our first trip today to start the season in Guatemala. The Strike Zone has been getting ready for this year's season and she had her debut today...With a group that had never been blue water fishing, it was a treat. Capt. Edgar, my partner said that the bite started at 9:00am and didn't stop until 2:00 pm. It was non-stop...They had 5 Sails and 16 Dorado's and were back at the marina at 3:00pm. Fishing Report: Venice Spillway & South Pass Blast,
Saturday afternoon Glen, Ernie and I decided to fish Venice in one of the river spillways at night with the generator and lights. The evening was partly cloudy and the weather was favorable with light winds and a good tide movement and most of all the river stage was low and clean. Our first stop in the river produced nothing but we headed to South Pass at the mouth to try for redfish. The redfish were very hungry eating up our fresh shrimp presentations on bottom rigs and hookups were sometimes three at the time as we had to juggle for the landing net. Many of the redfish were in the bull-red size but we caught enough catch and release and left them biting leaving with 8 keeper size and sore arms and plenty broken tackle. Spanish mackerel were also among the frenzy and many redfish battles were the cause of loss sinkers as mackerel hammered our lead weights flashing through the clear water. Before sunset, we headed to our favorite spillway and set the lights and generator up. Fishing started slow and it was sporadic. We saw only one other boat which was about a 45 ft yacht that also setup housekeeping to night fish. We caught specks, white trout, croaker, redfish and released one 45 pound black drum. We ended the trip with a nice mess of mixed fish and look forward to another trip to Venice.
Good fishin’,

Fishing Report: Strike Zone Charters Louisiana & Guatemala
Saturday morning we left out of Cypress Cove Marina around 9am on Strike Zone Too with Charlie and crew from Texas for their “Meat in the Bucket Rodeo 09”. By the way, Happy 40th birthday to Larry. As we headed south to Green Canyon, the color change was gradual with no defined line. After dodging some fairly large thunderstorms full of fire, we arrived at our first stop. The outriggers were dropped into position and the lines were out. It only took ten minutes for the first double knock down. After a few minutes and some fancy boat maneuvering, we landed two Yellowfin Tuna, the first was about 50lbs with the second being around 60lbs. After a few more runs we had a curious Blue Marlin browse the spread but would not eat. About an hour later a White Marlin shows in the spread and hit one of the baits, but all we got was a messed up leader. He lives to fight another day. As we were presented with a beautiful sunset, the grilled was fired up for a steak dinner with all the fixings. We fished a couple of rigs with no surface signs but caught several Blackfin Tuna then moved on to the next spot. Around 2am Yellowfin Tuna started busting and the guys picked off another 4 Yellowfin, a few more Blackfin and 5 Rainbow Runners. With only a few minutes left before heading back north, Charlie hooked up. Thirty minutes later, a 100 pounder was in the box and we headed home.

Fishing Report: Fishing Magician Charters
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Tim and his daughter Mary Ellen, from Jackson, Miss.
It was a little windy, so I decided to fish the Biloxi Marsh. And, it ended up being a good day.
We caught 50 nice trout using Campo's live shrimp. We fished around the Lake Eugene area. It was nice, cool, and calm. So, they didn't have to fight the rough seas. Since, Tim had just had a hip replacement, I didn't want to bounce him around too much.
All fish were caught 2' under a popping cork using Campo's live shrimp.
By the end of the day, Tim and Mary Ellen were already discussing their plans on coming back with a larger group.
If you want to catch some fish and have some fun, Fishing Magician Charters is the one. Come join us on a trip you will not regret. We would love to show you around and help you catch your own fish.

Fishing Report: Fishing Magician Charters
Second Day for Jimmy Woods and his group from Georgia.
The guys had a really good day catching reds and trout. Some of the guys wanted to catch trout, so Capt. Lester took them. They fished Bay Eloi and caught a nice box of trout.
Capt. Jason and Capt. Casey took the rest of Jimmy's group deep into the Sound to catch some Bull Reds. They each had a good day at catching their limits of reds and some nice trout.
I have had Danny Kingston for the last two day. We also had two really great days of fishing. Trout and reds were caught, eventhough there was a lot of rain and a little wind around.
Friday and Saturday turned out to be two great days to fish. All fish were caught 2' under a popping cork and Carolina Rig on the bottom using Campo's live shrimp.
I did have Capt. Dane running a trip for me today also. He had the pleasure of taking out Lee and his guest. They fished Bay Eloi and caught a nice box of fish.
I would like to thank my guests who came in to fish with us it is always a pleasure to fish with the guys, gals, and kids. Also I would like to thank my captains and deckhands that work hard to make sure everyone has a really good fishing experience.

Fishing Report: WHAT A TWO MONTH RUN....This has been the best July and August that I have had in the 21 year history of Strike Zone Charters. The weather, the anglers and the fish have been cooperating. We have had to run a lot further than the norm but the reward has been GREAT catches of Yellowfin and Blackfin Tuna. The average 24hr trip on the 55' Strike Zone Too has been 12 to 15 Yellowfin with the largest in the last two months being a 141 pounder that came on the slowest trip of the Two Month RUN. We have tagged eight Blue Marlin with three of them coming in the past three weeks. Lots of Bull Dolphin in the first part of July. And the AJ's have been the big hogs as usual. And let's not forget the red icing on the top of the fish box...THE RED SNAPPERS (Who are in danger..... of killing themselves from over population)
We are now waiting for the Blue Water and the big Yellowfin to move back home. It will be nice to start fishing seven to twenty miles out of the pass. I know this will make the oil companies sad but it will sure help our fishing pocket books.
Guatemala has been slow....Everyone is waiting for the up coming season (Oct to May).....When we have had boats out they have done very good....The last trip was with a local group and they went 5 for 10 on the Sails and had 16 Dorado's. The problem is the same as it was in Venice years ago...It was only a few of us fishing from October to April(Capt Mike Fernett and Capt. Mike

Today we had 2 boats out. Capt. Jason had the pleasure of fishing with Bill McDaniels and his group. They are down for 2 days of fishing. Everyone had a great morning this morning and caught a nice box of speckled trout.
I had the pleasure of fishing with James Thompson, David, Staci, and Jack. I picked the guys up at their lodge and then headed to the sound. We made a couple of stops, which is all it took to catch a really great mess of speckled trout.
All fish were caught 2' under a popping cork using Campo's live shrimp. Both boats had all the fish that the law would allow.
Capt. Jason will be back at it with Bill McDaniels and his group tomorrow. We will post again.
Great Job Jason!

Great Morning in the Breton Sound!
I had the pleasure of fishing with Steve McNemar and his wife Staci. One stop is all it took. The guys put a great box of trout into the boat for 8:00. From the first cast to the last cast they had nonstop action.
We were fishing 2' under a popping cork with live shrimp. As soon as the line hit the water Staci was bring a fish back in. The fish were so close to the top that Steve decided to try top water. The trout were knocking the lures out of the water. Every time Steve threw out he had a fish. I had a great time with these two.
If you want to catch some fish and have some fun, Fishing Magician Charters is the one. Give us a call to book a trip you will never forget. We are here to make sure everyone gets to enjoy catching their own fish. Our captains are on the boat, not to fish, but to make sure you catch your own fish.

Fishing Report: Fishing Magician Charters
Great Fun In The Sound Today!!
Today I had a really good time fishing with my grandson (Gavin- age 10), and my two nephews, Jonathon(age 11) and Joshua(age 9). The boys have been asking to go fishing before school started. And, since I didn't have a charter I decided to go enjoy the day with them. Good thing too, because school starts tomorrow. Today was one day they will never forget.
At one point when Joshua hooked a red fish, he was standing in the front of the boat. The red fish took his bait. Then the fish drug him from the front of the boat to the back of the boat. He would not give up or let go. He was determined to get the fish into the boat. His brother Jonathon gave him a hand and they pulled it in. I sure wish I had a video camera to catch the show. The boys showed determination and stamina. We laughed and laughed at the fun of the catch. Memories guys, memories.
We fished the Breton Sound catching reds and trout. All the trout were 2 - 5 lbs and some pretty reds. All fish were caught Carolina rig on the bottom using Campo's live shrimp.
The kids did an excellent job catching all of the fish you see in the pictures. One thing about fishing with Fishing Magician Charters is that you get to catch the fish, young or old, the guide does not catch them for you. So if these young boys can catch all of these fish, so can you. Make some memeries. A lot of memories were made
