Fishing Report: Cabo Fishing Report:
We fished the WON Tuna Tournament again this year. Picudo ended up with 9 Dorado to 30lbs, and 11 Tuna to 35lbs over the 2 day Tournament. Team #104 boated a huge 383lb Tuna, just 10lbs short of the world record. We didn't get into the money, but fun was had by all, and the fishing in Cabo remains good. Come on down to Cabo, for some good fun, and great fishing soon, the airfares are pretty low if you look around.

Fishing Report: Crazy Currents, Changing Conditions is Challenging Puerto Vallarta Anglers
It’s been a rough year for Puerto Vallarta Fishing all around. In April CNN spoke lies about the conditions in Mexico concerning Drug Issues, Swine Flu and the general state of Mexico. It put the brakes on all tourist related businesses and has hurt Puerto Vallarta to the bone. Now that we´ve entered November we’re all looking forward to people returning to our fair city, no matter what that may be. One thing for sure, whatever it is, it will be better than what we’ve been seeing for the last six months.
But we’re into November now and tourism is returning, slowly but surely. Demand for Restaurants, Services, shops and yes Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta is on the upswing. Conditions have changed a little this week, but that’s to be expected as currents dictate the ¨flow¨ of things when it comes to fish. We’ve seen the deep water locations of Corbeteña and El Banco run hot and cold. Hot in the form of warm water and cold as in Yellowfin tuna. First, the conditions for the last week were not great. We had a storm south of PV and a cold front come down from California causing rolling seas and rough days beyond the bay. Having said that, Sailfish, Blue and Striped Marlin (350 lbs), Dorado (40 lbs) and Cubera Snapper (45 lbs – 60 lbs) are still hanging around the rock at Corbeteña. At El Banco, Dorado have been running in the 45 lb range, Sailfish are large also in the 80 to

Fishing Report: Don’t Give Up on Yellowfin Tuna, the Season is Not Over Yet!
Normally Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta is a no brainer, especially at this time of the year. Normally we see Yellowfin Tuna in the 200 to 300 lb range at this time of the year, but this year is one of those special years called El Nino. Most people hear the name El Nino all the time, but in reality have no clue what it really means. Yes they know the weather is going to be a little weird and this is a normal thing. No global warming causing this, but it will get blamed for this. As the currents from the equator change and water temperatures all over the world fluctuate, this affects not only fishing, but weather patterns around the globe. Now this year we´re seeing the Yellowfin follow the currents way north to California and beyond. Four years ago, when we had the last El Nino, they were catching Sailfish off the state of Washington, I’m serious about that, made the national news it was so strange. I haven´t heard anything that strange as yet so far this year, but I am sure something like this will come out in the news.
Now you may be asking ¨How does this affect the fishing in Puerto Vallarta¨? Well, the biggest indication El Nino is here, is again the weather. One example how it affects the fishing here in PV is the water temperatures. Get used to this, I will be talking a length about this condition in the coming months. When water temperatures get over 88 degrees, the

the bigger blacks are starting to show up and
the boys caught 2 400 + Yesterday the
yellowfin tuna is day to day averaging 40-200

producing big mahi mahi and sailfish, "in other
words the fishing is great"due to the slow
economy not lots of boats are going out so
normally this time of the year you will see 10
boats at the same fishing grounds right now
you'll likely only have to share the hot spots with
1-3 boats! Inside the bay is still great for fly
fishing and smaller action mahi's, roosterfish,
needle fish, and red snapper for all You cow
Hunters we are still waiting to see the first big
girl in the season dont get me wrong 220 lbs is
still a big fish but 350 is alot bigger! for more

Fishing Report: This year we´re seeing the season shape up much better than last year. The fishing grounds are alive with action, blue water and smooth seas. Plenty of carnada or bait in English and if that´s not enough, you can have the high spots at El Banco to yourself! These are the kind of conditions that fisherman all over the world hope to experience on their next trip. Puerto Vallarta is famous for its Big Game fishing, but you would be surprised by the lack of takers. I guess with the Economy in the states and the other issues CNN loves to distort, those with the disposable income have dropped off considerably. We all understand market conditions, especially here in PV, but the fish, they don´t care at all. In fact, not having charter boats out there means they´ll hang near the surface instead of being chased down by too many boats. So conditions are really about as good as they can get when it comes to Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta.
One great example of this is Mamba Negra, Master Baiter´s 36 ft. Luhrs convertible, came back with Felipe Bravo, Master Baiter´s partner, came in with some sizeable Yellowfin at El Banco and Corbeteña. That´s him in the photo. Running between El Banco and Corbeteña Capt. Carlos and first Mate Juan put Felipe on fish and the rest of the day was non-stop action. Yellowfin Tuna running in the 60 to 150 lb range were abundant around the high spots with plenty of Chorras in the water! Sailfish and large Dorado are here in the area as well.

Fishing Report: The Mahi Mahi run is up and down now as far as numbers. Less fish are being taken around the buoys on some days more than others, but the size and quality have increased. More bigger fish on the average. Also the buoys are producing a lot more Sailfish and some Blue Marlin because they attract baitfish. Last month Sailfishing was very spotty because of the enormous amount of bait in the whole area.Large schools of Ballyhoo, Sardines, small bonita's and small Jack were everywhere. Very possibly much of the bait has moved now reducing the options for the large concentrations of sailfish in this area. In turn causing the sailfish to be not so selective and on the hunt much more activlly. The Marlin are not huge just average 150 to 200 lbs good sporting size not the big ones which should come latter in the season !

Weekly Puerto Vallarta Sportfishing Report, Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna on Track!
Puerto Vallarta, the town itself seems to be breathing a little easier these days. Mexican Nationals have taken over PV, filling the hotels, restaurants and shops now. Mexico is no longer at the forefront of the influenza pandemic and those enticed by cheap airfare / hotel packages are the lucky ones. The Americans are still not down in force, but High Season for Fishing is here amigos. Soon that Angler who´s been sitting in his living room watching ESPN, fantasizing about Black Marlin will be able to afford a sports vacation for less dinero than in a bunch of years!
The conditions are always fluctuating here in the Tropical Regions of Central America. This year the rainy season hasn´t been all that ¨Rainy¨. With what rains the mountains have seen naturally filter their way into the bay. This means finding blue water is the secret here, but not always easy to find. This is when the ever present trash line is a welcome sight. A band of sediment pushed in front of the murky brown water. Here Dorado can be caught inside the clear water side. Rooster Fish will also take small baits. Diamond jigs work well, whatever you have in your bag of tricks has a chance.
The last few days if you were fishing in the Buceras area, like Capt.

the weather is really heating up we are getting
about an hour of tropical storms everyday
around 9 pm which is making for humid day's
and water temps are up to 85 at some hot spots
We went to the bank yesterday clean water but
no bite so We headed north and about 10 miles
from the banks found a nice boil of smaller
30-50 lb Yellowfin tuna jumping all over the
place thats not all that We found after boating 3
tuna's Freddy spotted a sailfish about a 1/2 a
mile south so Captain Steve hit the throttle and
30 minutes later we had tagged a nice 110 inch
sail, not 5 minutes after that Freddy had hooked
another 1 this one was smaller about 90 inches,
after that we headed back to the tuna boated 3
more and called it a day. The tunas are biting
live bait new big secret just need to get far

Fishing Report: Fishing Report for June 21, 2009 for Master Baiter’s Sportfishing and Tackle

Big Fish, Deserted Fishing Grounds, Cheap Charters, Where are You?
This is the time of the year when the Black Marlin and especially the Yellow Tuna Monsters return to our world famous fishing grounds. With money being tight in the States and around the world, we´ve seen a dive in demand for Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta, just like the rest of the fishing world. For the consumer of course, this creates an opportunity to find an affordable boat that will fit your needs. The ¨cherry¨ on top is the fact you can have the fishing grounds to yourself these days. I have never seen the industry in the shape it is in now. With more and more charter start-ups every day, 16 new internet sites this year alone in PV, you really need to do your homework! But good boats at great prices are available to those with the cash! Just remember deals that ¨ sound too got to be true¨ rule! Safe and insured boats are what you want, more about this at the lower half of this article.
The Summer rains have set their pattern and now if you are in Marina Vallarta in the late afternoon and morning, you could get wet. In fact there is a good chance this will happen. But no worries amigos, the salty fisherman out there will know this is actually a good thing for us here in PV. It brings the fish to the surface, the rain on the surface looks like

Seasonal Rains Have Begun, Fishing Improves Gradually!
Well, it´s hot and humid in Puerto Vallarta. Right now the days are a cool 85 degrees with a 84% humidity factor that makes it feel warmer. Now if you´re from Florida or Houston or even New Orleans, then this is on par for summer conditions. But if you´re from California, Arizona or the North West, you may just think you’re a poached egg! It´s taken me years to get used to these conditions, so now I look forward to these hot days and sweltering nights. Especially when you know Yellowfin Tuna and Black Marlin love these conditions.
The hotels have reopened in Marina Vallarta and it looks like we may have turned the corner where tourism is coming back little by little. This naturally is good news for the local business owners who for the last three months saw no business coming off a disappointing high season with the economic woes of the states and the rest of the world. Now with cheap air fares and hotels running some incredible specials, Mexico, PV in particular, is dirt cheap and waiting for you along with our world class fishing. So if you´re an angler dreaming of Billfish and Tuna, then this would be a great time to set up a trip before the strong dollars slips back to reality! FYI, if you are planning on coming down anytime this year, remember you don´t have to be
