Fishing Report:   For the last couple of days it has been rather windy, but fishing in the smooth water confines of the Back Bay of Biloxi has been delivering plenty of rod bending action.

Some big sheepshead and nice eating size black drum have been producing a hot bite, and on 10-pound-test spinning tackle they are a blast to catch.

This has been mostly bottom fishing with live or fresh dead structure around bridges, rubble, and off channel ledges. Catching these bottom dwellers is a quick run from the D'Iberville Marina's launch, merely 2 to 5-minutes to fish catching fun.

By the way, from now through March these two species will continue to produce some hot inshore fishing. Also, the bite on white trout has neen excellent with catches of 100-plus fish easily attainable.

Speckled trout are starting to move into the bays and coastal rivers too, and as the weather gets colder expect the speck fishing to get hot.

Remember, one can catch fish here in south Mississippi 12 months out of the year despite weather conditions. By the way, looks like the Florida pompano run is about over, but this was one of the best years yet for catching Florida pompano aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Get with me next summer, and experience the world-class Florida pompano fishing that Mississippi's barrier islands has to offer. Literally caught hundreds of them this year, fine fish running from 1 to 3.5 pounds.

Nice Cobia (aka-ling-lemon fish) invade South Ms. waters on their return migration!

Well cobia (ling-lemon fish) would have to take top billing on this report. In 2 offshore trips just 15 to 20 miles behind Horn Island the new 29ft. Try to go one other day and decided to turn around lil bit to rough. 1-3 hr light tackle inshore we did boat over 30 nice black drum, 6 or 8 over 10 lb the rest 2 to 6 lb good eating size, an lots of fun. These cobia should be around another few weeks.

Fishing Report:   October 2009

I introduced four future fisherman to the sport today! Usually we'll just start them out on the o'l white trout, an they have been pretty consistent all year.
Had 2 young men on one trip to the Islands and a nice young lady and her boyfriend on another. Did manage a couple small reds also on these trips to the Island on the Whipasnapa. Have a few offshore trips coming up an my Alaskan crew coming in for a whole week of fishing.
A buddy called me up and took me fishing! Lots of fun caught nice cobia, some reds out by the Island and one of them psycho fish jumped in the boat!! SHHH!! Don't tell nobody but I think its a Florida Pompano.
Back Bay is holding strong too, run on the black drum, reds, flounders and a few keeper specks.

SO COME ON TO BILOXI LET'S GO GET'M!!!!!

Fishing Report:   It's been a great summer of light tackle fishing here out of Biloxi, MS for TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. The run on "sand sea trout" a.k.a. "white trout" has been strong all summer long, and will continue through November.

Our ealy run of tripletail a.k.a. "blackfish" was excellent too, along with some hefty speckled trout and Spanish mackerel.

However, the Florida pompano are making a strong run again at our barrier islands, and this should run well into October. On my last trip, clients John Noel and Jimmy Childres of Jackson, MS managed to box 20 of the finest pompano you could imagine.

Of course the big ladyfish, small sharks, and bluefish kept the action non stop throughout the bite. We were fishing in 1 to 2-feet of water, and live and dead shrimp was our bait of choice.

Had one pompano free-jump into the boat, another jumped and hit John in the chest while he was fighting the fish, and another hooked fish jumped and landed in the landing net.

The funny thing was, I was well inside the boat with net in hand waiting for the fish to be brought to the surface. Yes, pompano fishing here in south Mississippi can be extremely exciting when the bite is on.

John caught and released a 35-pound jack crevalle too, and our jacks run really big in this area. Also, big bull redfish shoud be showing up on the pompano flats any time now.

By the way, with popping corks and live shrimp

Fishing Report:   Florida pompano fishing here in south Mississippi is getting hot, and we have big fish in these waters.

Most half a day trips have been good for 10 or more nice fish, and the conditions are only going to get better. Ladyfish, bluefish, hardtails, big stingrays, and small sharks keep the rods bent continously. Great fun!

Some big Spanish mackerel are prowling the barrier islands too, excellent light tackle fun.

Inshore reefs are still loaded with white trout and ground mullet, a great light tackle bottom fishing experience. Kids just love it!

Fishing is good here out of the Biloxi area, so be sure to give me a call, and we'll create your own fishing memories aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Fishing Report:   Lately the Florida pompano bite has been good. Numbers of fish have been on the increase, and it will only get better.

Fishing the crystal clear shallows of the barrier islands have been the ticket to success, and some big Spanish mackerel have been taken on live shrimp and menhaden too.

I look for the pompano fishing to get stronger as the sponge crabs move in to spawn on the barrier islands gorgeous flats.

White trout and ground mullet are still on the reefs for the taking providing excellent light tackle fun, a great fishery for kids to enjoy. You know, plenty of non stop fish catching fun!

Flounder, specks, and a few fredfish are along the rock jetties too.

So when you're in south Mississippi be sure to look me up for your own fishing adventure aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS

Fishing Report:   Carl, Dexter, Mr. Butler and his son come to spend the weekend with Whipasnapa Charters as they have for the past 5 years.
Generally they like to do a light tackle then a big snapper run. But, I suggested since they were going to arriving at 12:00noon on 6-19-2009 lets just run out to the wrecks behind Horn Island, and grab our limit of red snapper. And, man the snapper bite was on too! Probably caught 16 to 20 nice ones kept eight selects, and 4 red drum, 3 grouper in about an 1 1/2 hours fishing. Cut bonita on 6oz sinker w/circle hooks was the ticket.
Day 2 was limit red snapper, 5 mangrove's,4 candy, 6 white trout, 1 king, 3 sharks a nice cobia, had several spades. Mostly all on freeline with hook and cut poggie.
Thanks for a great weekend and can't wait to see what we catch next year!

Fishing Report:   Li and T.J. from D.C. area jumped aboard Whipasnapa Charters around 7:30am (6-17-2009) they said 5am was just to early for 1/2 day snapper run!
I didn't know o'l Li had never caught a fish!? So had some nice sows up in free line. I throw out a porkchop told Li to get ready when he hits gone give you the pole. About that time it happened. Man! I bowed up on him pumped one time then gave it to Li, well that sow turned him every which way but loose. Soon as he grabbed the pole straight down to the water it went. He was slammed an this sow was in the rig. "Man, what was that?" That is what we call a SOW you got to man up on them. He wanted to know if he could catch something a lil smaller? So I put him on the hardtails and spades. He caught a nice shark too.
So I asked T.J. if he wanted some? Surely you've caught fish before? Yea he was ready for the challenge,he just landed a 40lb wahoo couple weeks ago in Hawaii. That experience did no good on the sows. Two hookups, two fish in the rigs. And they were up to on freeline. Did get limit. Pretty decent-5 nice mangrove,Li bunch of spades,2 candy's,2 triggers and a lot of fun!!

Fishing Report:   Sow Red Snapper, Cobia, Little Tunny,Grouper, Just 10 miles out.
Capt. Robert McDaniel
June 15, 2009
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

For the last 2 days I have been hosting some return fishermen from N. Ms. I tell you its hard to go run way out there catching the quality fish we been putting on the WHIPASNAPA just 10 miles behind Horn Island. This crew wanted me to keep it a secret but hey when you book the 2 day gig ya get a complementary Crab an Shrimp boil.
Early Sat., around 4:30am to be exact, we headed over to play with some more close to SOW Red Snapper, an boy they pulled some good'uns up right off the bat. Had two fishing live bait an 2 fishing chunks of bonita. The big SOWS were hitting cut bait an some really nice Grouper were hitting the live bait, but man the grouper were all between 20 an 21 1/2 just short of the 22in.min. we pulled at least 7 up an none got the complementary ride home on the WhipaSnapa. limited on snapper fairly early stayed an played with some really large ones trying to get the keeper grouper all shy released several more nice snapper for fun.
Off to the shrimp boats to fight some bonita an jacks while we search for the cobia. Man most have a ball with these power houses especially when you tell them the Jacks are YellowFin Tuna. Boy you wrong for that. But man they had tighten the drags up pretty good to keep
