Fishing Report: Fished on 11/3/06 at Ortley Beach and it was a GREAT day!. Got there on the beach and immediately hooked up with a nice 8 LB blue. Pods of Peanuts were at your feet as the blues and occasional striper would push them right up on the beach. Water was VERY clear and the tide was outgoing for the 1st hour and then incoming after that.
Got there about 1030 and it was pretty much non-stop. Saw a couple of bass, but were short for the most part...saw a couple of keepers, one off of a fly rod fished close to the 2nd Street jetty. Bait pods seemed to be moving north to south. While talking to some of the guys who had been there all AM, 0430 to sunrise seemed to be producing a solid bite for teenage bass with at least one 20lb on plugs and clams.
After first light, pretty much resigned to larger blues... I got 15-18 fish, with the smallest in the 6lb range and the biggest about 9. Not bad for only 4 hours of fishing!!! As I was leaving at 3:15PM, More bunker were making their way in and a good blitz was going on near the Casino Pier.

Fishing Report: JULY 15, 2006
Captain Sal Frisina and his crew on the vessel the Jane and Sons headed south east to Toms Canyon Middle and found warm water as posted by Offshore Satellite Services. We began a troll pattern along one of the many drop offs, 400 to 800 feet of water at a temperature of 74 degrees. Just as our lines touched the water we had our first run off for the year and landed a 70 lb Big Eye tuna. We continued to troll the area and picked up a large Mahi/Dolphin in the 50 lb range. After trolling and no action, we headed to Lindenkohl and hooked two mahi and lost both. All and all the trip was a success because of all the wonderful sights, such as dolphin, whales and turtles present throughout the area and of course two nice fish.
