Fishing Report: Sorry for being slack with the fishing reports, but after fishing three tournaments back to back, plus making 50 mile runs everyday to catch fish, I’m worn out. I haven’t fished the past several days due to the weather, but the fishing has been great if you enjoy a long boat ride. Most of the stripers have been hanging around the Virginia / NC border.
The big fish are staying in that area until the water gets colder up north and makes them move south. We have boated numerous citation fish, but nothing above the 50lb mark. The first place boat during the last tournament had three fish that weighed 147lbs., which one fish was over fifty. There are still a few trout being caught in the surf and some tuna being taken offshore. Here is Jim & buddies with a limit of Stripers with one 36lb citation.

Fishing Report: Fishing on the Outer Banks has improved over the past few weeks. Trout and Red Drum are showing up in the surf and sound. The sound fishing seems to be best on an outgoing tide using grubs or fresh shrimp. Striped Bass are still biting, but they are the smaller sound fish that are 2-6 lbs. on average.
Some Bluefish are showing up when the water warms up. All we need is a week or so of warm weather and the fishing is going to bust loose. I do still have a few Cobia dates open for May.This type of fish is a blast. We sight cast to this guys as they are head north and they range in size from 20lb. to over 100. The one I'm holding was close to 50lb. and was good eating.
