Fishing Report: What a beautiful day for offshore fishing it was,we got off to a later start than we would have liked but we headed to the norfolk canyon anyway aboard a 30'GW Marlin on her madien gulf stream adventure.
Seas would be 3' to 4' with a north wind around 10 mph and shift to the nnw around lunch. I was rigging up ballyhoo on the lure's for the day which were zukers-feathers, blue&white also purple, blackhole's, seawitches, dinkbait's and a liitle of everything including a planer and spreader bar. We crossed a few scattered grass lines around the 37 07.00 -75 50.00 but the water temp.was 67 so I didn't pay much attention.
I looked up only briefly and contiuned my task of finishing up rigging. Wasn't to long after I heard the other saying the water was changing color so I went to the control to see where we were and to check the temp again. The temperature graph showed we had run through a colunm of water up to 72 and was falling we never got to any water above 70 the rest of the day.
I worked my butt off all day because the Captain couldn't seem to follow my suggestion to turn up wind or down and run with the grass lines that seemed every few hundred yard apart with lots of grass scattered between. We ended up around 76 34.00 / 37 03.00 From there we fished down south to 75 45.00 where we hooked up on a nice white marlin for a very short time made a u-turn and got another hit.
This was my 4th time out in 07 and have

Fishing Report: Well, after 7 days of excruciatingly painful waiting for a favorable sea condition opportunity, we finally got out to the great beyond of The Atlantic Ocean for our 1st extreme long range deep drop wreck fishing trip of the 2007 campaign. We were joined by 9 intrepid anglers, Capt. Steve “The Professor” Wray (a/k/a “The Black Sea Bass Slayer”), and 1st Mate T.J. Reiber.
We fished two wrecks in cold, choppy Atlantic Ocean seas. It was a decent bite as we landed 169 keeper corpulent Black Sea Bass (not counting a multitude of landed half BSB’s which were so rudely bitten off by Dog Sharks and Bluefish), 3 medium Blueline Tilefish, and 19 slim Runner Bluefish. We also released a few Dog Sharks and a few Cunners. The fishing was greatly assisted by a few chummers (much to the delight of The Captain).
We had a final tally of 8 VA Weight Citation BSB’s verified and several others which were likely eligible which weren’t weighed either because the anglers did not want Citations or because they were multiples. The average size of the BSB’s was superior. Our next deep drop trip will be Wednesday, January 24 (weather permitting).
VA Weight Citations:
Capt. Steve “The Professor” Wray of VA Beach, VA - 5 pounds 14 ounces
Mr. Clyde Goins of Hampton, VA - 5 pounds 12 ounces
Mr. Steven L. Czarny of Chesapeake, VA - 5 pounds 8 ounces
Mr. Dennis Walczak of VA Beach, VA - 5 pounds 2 ounces

Fishing Report: Virginia Wreck Fishing Report
We are now fishing out of Virginia Beach from Lynnhaven Inlet through the middle of April 2006. Today, we welcomed a put together group (a/k/a “walk on” trip) including John “I’m Done” Elmadani, Russell Rowe, John Hughes, Andy Hughes, Craig Irwin, and Capt. Steve “Sea Bass Slayer” (a/k/a “The Professor”) Wray. We had a total of 8 on the boat (including yours truly and our 1st Mate for the day - TJ Reiber).
What a beautiful day Virginia wreck fishing on the Atlantic Ocean today! Calm winds, fair seas, and a breathtaking azure sky framed the Jil Carrie Spankin’ like the Mona Lisa. Just one more fantastic day of deep drop long range Atlantic Ocean Black Sea Bass wreck fishing. We caught our limit of 25 corpulent Black Sea Bass per man (25 x 8 men = 200 BSB’s) and also released quite a few smaller BSB’s. We had 6 VA weight Citations for Black Sea Bass (2 by “The Professor”, 2 by John “I’m Done” Elmandani, and 2 singles). We also caught a few Hake, one Cod (at least I think it was a Cod), a few Pollock (hey, no Pollock jokes here) several Winter Runner Bluefish, an armada of grotesque Conger Eels, and one bazillion Dawg Sharks (all released).
We’ve got a front coming through tomorrow with big offshore winds. It may be a while before we can get back out here…

Fishing Report:
Virginia Wreck Fishing for Sea Bass
Today, we welcomed a put together group (a/k/a walk on trip) including many of the usual suspects, among others, Mr. Jim Lead Rod (pronounced LEEEEEED) Boland, leader of the world famous Boland clan, Capt. Steve Sea Bass Slayer (a/k/a The Professor) Wray, Mark Capt. Steve's Brother Wray, Brian Rim, Glen Caldwell, Dennis Walczak, Mac, Mo Moore, the infamous Jim Baugh of Jim Baugh Outdoors TV fame (and cameraman filming TWO TV shows), and others. We had a total of 15 on the boat (including yours truly and our 1st Mate for the day - TJ Reiber).
Today was one of the best deep drop/long range Atlantic Ocean wreck fishing trips I have ever witnessed. The fish bit early and often including an astounding limit of 25 monster Sea Bass per angler (that's 15 x 25 or 375 monster Sea Bass), Cod, Blueline Tilefish, Runner Blues, grotesque Conger Eels, Carpet Sharks, and an armada of Dawg Sharks. Whew - holy burnin' forearms, BATMAN!!!
Every angler on board had at least one VA weight Citation and Capt. Steve led the pack with 7 VA weight citations including the largest Black Sea Bass on the day - a 6 pound 11 oz. PIG. Brian Rim had 2nd place with 6 weight citations. The infamous Jim Baugh had 3 VA weight Citations, including 2 over 6 pounds.
Man, it just doesn't get any better than this!
Man, what a RIDE!!!!
