Fishing Report:   JUNE 3, 2005

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - The inshore bite around the Sebastian Inlet has been good with plenty of trout on the flats and the redfish and snook in the Inlet. The snapper are moving in around the bridges in Vero Beach as well as along the channel edges. Also look for the redfish around the spoil islands to the south of the Moorings.

Offshore there has been a good dolphin bite in 140 to 200 feet of water. The kingfish are in 90 feet of water and taking live baits. The bottom fishing has been good to the south of the Sebastian Inlet.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY - As the snook season closed at midnight on Tuesday the anglers were out looking for the last big one. Most of the snook caught were coming from both the North and South Bridges and in the Turing Basin. The Ft. Pierce Inlet was not as productive due to all the dredging. There has been a good number of trout reported in 1 to 3 feet of water. The flats on the North end have been just as productive as the South end of the river. The snapper are on the move so try the channel edges and use a live shrimp.

Offshore most of the anglers found plenty of dolphin in 70 to 200 feet of water over the long weekend. I got good reports of cobia coming from the north of the Ft. Pierce Inlet. The bottom fishing has been good around the Northeast grounds. The kingfish have been holding in 70 to 90 feet of water. And, there are still quite a few sailfish being reported.

MARTIN COUNTY - The reports about trout has been good when fishing along the dock lines on Indian River Dr. early in the morning and when using a top water bait. The tarpon are working around Big Mud Creek but still not feeding on any regular basis. The snook action remains good around the local bridges. Just a reminder -- snook season is closed.

Offshore the reports of sailfish keep coming in. The sails have been in 120 to 150 feet of water out of the St. Lucie Inlet. The dolphin bite remains steady and the bottom fishing for sea bass, trigger fish, snapper and grouper has been good along the wrecks and reefs.

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY - The bass fishing remains good when using live shiners and fishing them up around the hydrella's. The brim bite is still strong at the Lake and in the Kissimmee River. Also, plenty of big catfish being reported coming from Lake Okeechobee.5

BRAGGING BOARD - On Monday 4 year old Savannah Ward caught her first dolphin with the help of her dad, Rob while fishing in 120 feet of water out of the Ft. Pierce Inlet. The fish weighed 5 pounds and they were using ballyhoo.

On Saturday Emily Hendricks caught her first dolphin. She was fishing in 82 feet of water out of the Ft. Pierce Inlet and using ballyhoo. Emily finished the day with 3 dolphin to 15 pounds.

Also on Monday 5 year old Jackson Worlhy caught his first dolphin while fishing at Push Button Hill out of the St. Lucie Inlet. The fish weighed 13 pounds.
