Fishing Report: Chesapeake Bay Fishing - Chesapeake Bay Fishing Reports
On another absolutely picture perfect weather and slick calm (“pronounced “cam”) Friday in June we were joined by Mr. Chuck “Chili” Childress (of the “Wet 5” Fishing Club fame), family, and friends, for a total of 8 anglers. T.J. Reiber served as 1st Mate (in rear in group picture).
We started off chumming with light spinning tackle rigged with standard chumming rigs for Striped Bass (“Rockfish”). We used Razor Clams and cut Bunker for hook bait. It was very slow, but we hung in there, showed some patience, and eventually caught our limit of 16 portly Rockfish plus our boat fish ranging from 18 inches up to 27 inches. We also released a few undersized Rockfish.
Then we bottom fished for a while with light spinning tackle rigged with standard bottom rigs. There was a plenty of action bottom fishing as we caught two coolers full of Norfolk Spot and White Perch.
