Fishing Report: PIERS:
Cherry Grove Pier: Open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, 7 am to 2
am on Friday and Saturday. King and Spanish Mackerel using menhaden.
(Several Kings: 33, 28, 29 &14 pounds). Spadefish biting well, usually
with shrimp and jelly balls. Flounder on mullet minnows or mud minnows.
Apache Pier (Myrtle Beach North): Pier and bait Shop open 6 a.m. to
11:30 p.m. seven days a week. A 130 pound tarpon was caught with live
bait and released. Sheepshead caught on sand fleas. Flounder is doing
well with mud minnows.
Springmaid Pier (Myrtle Beach): Pier is open 6 a.m. to midnight seven
days a week, year-round. Tackle shop open 6 a.m. to 11 pm. King Mackerel
doing well with menhaden and Spanish Mackerel with gold hooks.
Myrtle Beach State Park Pier (Myrtle Beach South): Open 6 a.m. to 9:30
p.m., 7 days a week. King Mackerel with live bait (27.8, 24, 20 pounds).
Spanish Mackerel caught with shrimp. Whiting also caught with shrimp.
Surfside Pier: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. Spanish
Mackerel on float rigs and jigging. Small pompanos are being caught on
cut shrimp.
The Pier at Garden City: Open 24 hours a day for fishing. Whiting are
being caught on shrimp and squid. Spanish Mackerel are being caught on
Spanish rigs and jigging. Pompano caught on shrimp and squid. Flounder
caught at mid-pier.
Winyah Bay Fishing and Observation Pier
(Georgetown): Open 6 a.m. to
midnight, seven days a week, with free parking and fishing. Visitors
also enjoy great bird watching. A Freshwater Fishing License is required
due to brackish water. Coming soon, a second fishing pier on Winyah Bay.
Flounder doing fairly well with mud minnows, cut bait and shrimp.
Folly Beach Pier: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. April through October. Spanish
Mackerel doing well with Gotcha Plugs. Spadefish and small whiting with
cut shrimp Pompano being caught with live shrimp. Bluefish with cut
shrimp and Sabiki Rigs. Spotted sea trout is doing well with live
shrimp.
Hunting Island State Park Fishing Pier: Pier is open 24 hours a day. The
Nature Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 7 days a week. Whiting have been
doing well with shrimp and shark also doing well. Croaker being caught
with shrimp. |
