Fishing Report: Pier fishing and inland all together doesn't seem to be what it used to! Bevy and I spent a couple of days at Okaloosa Pier and in the Santa Rosa sound near Navarre Beach. Didn't see any spanish nor Kings caught. One snapper off pier. As for me, I managed to only get Lady Fish on my Straw/Bubble rig but man are they fun to catch!!
Since nothing else was hitting, why not? They only hit when I slowed my retreive jerking way down with about a 2 or 3 second pause between jerks. Other than that, it was all CATFISH, SAILCATS (gafftop cats), and....oh yeah, more catfish!!!
WHERE HAVE ALL THE REDS GONE? I will admit, Bevy hauled in a very HUGE Sailcat and they are fun, strong fighters, but Cats were all we had hitting. If you are interested in the cats, go under bridge to Navarre Beach in the Santa Rosa Sound and use cut bait of any kind, mullet work well and oh, by the way, if you get into any of those Ladyfish at the Okaloosa Pier, they work quite well for Cutbait also. Bummer!! |
