Fishing Report: when i left my dads at 4:00 am i was determined to catch a fish.weve had a split season up here and it was the opening day of the second half.we arrived at about five and were some of the first out.as we were leaving the bay we saw swarms of bait fish but the fish finder didnt satisfie our captain and freind Jesse Duncan. we left the bay and went out about 2.5 miles and dropped our rigs. me and jesse were usin, a hoochie with a 'chovie on the trailer. My dad john kalinowski was using a green thing that i dont know the name of that was simalar to a hoochie with a 'chovie. we trolled for two hours with no success but all the sudden we saw 15 boats right in front of us. as soon as we got within 1/4 mile away from them bam! my dad got hit he wasnt looking. "DAD DAD FISH FISH" i yelled. as soon as i did he quickly swiveled around and picked it up. the fish was still there. it fough hard for about 5-7 minutes he brought in a 7 1/2 pound 26 inch chinook. we plunged into the crowd fish were getting caught all around us. we went in for 15 minutes until we turned on the finder alot of bleeps but all down deep. "the only one who could get one would be zack(me)" said my dad. 1 2 3 bam! the drag was goin out on my rod after another 5 -7 minute battle before i brought in a 6 3/4 pound chinook. as we went for about 1 hour before jesse got his turn. he got hit hard and the fish was jumping like a silver but my dad and jess told me it was a 'nookie. the fight was longer than mine and dad's and he boated a nice 10-11 pound silver(ha i was right).i caught two little kings(a foot 1/2 and a 1 foot) we were through after that.
as my dad would say in his magazine(humboldt county lines which is a good magazine)be safe and tight lines. |
