Fishing Report: Well the weather was not in my favor, but the action, and the bite was on !!! Fri. night was ok ended up with 3 keepers, 15' to 17', the wind kept getting worse, into Sat. and by Sat. night the wind was howling at 24 nts. But I stayed persistent and thought that when the tide changed at 9:00 that night, the trout would turn on.
Well I took a nap and woke up at the tide changing, the wind was worse, about 28 nts. and I was only about 15 ft. off of the dock. Had to be that close to get the lure under the light. I thought that this won't work, way to close, the fish would be spooked. But the trout were busting the bait all over the place, first cast had one on, and it was a big one, brought him to the back of the boat, and he came un hooked right as I was reaching for the net !!! Well I re cast and had another one on and it was a big one also, on the d.o.a., worked him over to the back of the boat and let off of the drag some, so he wouldn't pull off, and got him in the net.
Yea first one and it was a nice fat 19' trout. Took a pic. and in the cooler. Cast again and missed one, the action was so aggressive, because of the front coming through, tide change, front right over me, perfect !!! So cast the d.o.a. again, and wham, one on, pulling drag, work him to the back of the boat, and in the net, take a pic. in the cooler. So to the mullet rapala lure, bone white, twitch and rap, one cast and wham, slammed the lure hard, set the hook and this fish was taking drag, so I horse him around to the back of the boat, and again reaching for the net and he comes un hooked !!! Wow, check the lure and the hooks on the back treble are bent straight !!!
So I quickly change out the treble hook with a 3x strength red treble eagle claw lazer sharp, re cast and this fish slams the lure, and is on, to the back of the boat, and in the net, take pic. and in the cooler. Tony 3, trout 2 !! So back to the d.o.a. cast out about five times, and they don't want the d.o.a. One more to go, and I have my limit, last one comes quick, couple of casts and he is on !!!
To the back of the boat, in the net, and take a pic. and in the cooler. Have my limit, check the time and its 11:03, new record on limiting out before 12:00 !!! So I pac it up and take a look at the catch all the trout are big fat ones, 17' to 19' great night and all in the first hours of tide change. Time to go home, wind is howling, white caps on the river, thank you Lord for the great time.
