Fishing Report: Offshore fishing in Mazatlan December 2008 was producing alot of sailfish including some big ones 90 and 100lbs. Trolling was slow some mornings with the afternoons picking up considerably resulting in double and triple hookups ! Fishing several days the second week of December produced 9 sailfish including 2 doubles and one triple. No Blue Marlin. Marlin fishing was very spoty, one being taken here and there. The blues only seem to bite on certain days and not very often.Inshore Roosterfish was good with some 15 and 20 pounders caught. Bottom fishing produced the every abundant triggerfish. Panga trips were split between half day bottom and half offshore to give sportman the best opportunity to catch size and number. Some Mako sharks missed and several schools of big YellowFin Tuna. The tuna were feeding heavy so schools had to be located early while the fish were still hungry. Tuna could be located by spoting large groups of birds and porpoises. The abundance of species all benefited from the Tuna that drove the bait to the surfice and coralled them in a feeding frenzy.Game fish as well lurked below taking there share but were hard to hook up because of the abundance of food in these mini eco systems
