Fishing Report: September 29, 2005
INSHORE - Over all the inshore fishing has been good along the Treasure Coast. Look for the snook around the local bridges and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. They will be feeding on live baits or big jigs. The night tide changes seems to be the best time to land one of the fish. There has been plenty of trout action in 3 to 5 feet of water and the best time for a gator trout has been early in the morning on the East side of the river and use a top water bait. The redfish have been a little slow to eat but there has been plenty spotted along the docks on both North and South Indian River Drive. There is still plenty of snapper and sheepshead along the channel edges along with a lot of under sized grouper. The flounder bite continues to improve around the Turning Basin when using finger mullet. The anglers fishing the bridges in Ft. Pierce are reporting a mixed bag of bottom fish like snapper, sheepshead, flounder, black drum, spanish mackerel and a lot of jacks.
OFFSHORE - There is not a whole lot to say about the offshore fishing. Sea conditions have been keeping most of the boats at the docks but a few anglers with the bigger boats have gone out a time or two. They are reporting scattered dolphin and sailfish to the south of the Ft. Pierce Inlet in 180 to 300 feet of water. There were some kingfish in 70 to 90 feet of water and a few cobia in 65 feet. Hopefully the sea conditions will improve soon.
