Fishing Report: Report 10-01-05
We all dodged a BIG BULLET ( Hurricane Rita ) here in Rockport last week.
The week before Rita, my clients and I were catching lots of red fish and averaging around 15 trout per trip while wade fishing.
Then all of the sudden last Wednesday due to Rita, I had a week vacation because of the storm. I canceled most of my trips prior to the storm because of safety reasons. So with all this said I can only tell you what the bite was like just before the storm and a week after it. Now after the storm I have started fishing again this past Thursday. Trout seem to have picked up somewhat. Best baits for trout right now are live piggy perch. Red fish are hitting plastic baits and croaker on the flats and up close to the shorelines. Our water has cooled down to around 83 degrees. We have also gotten some very good tidal flow here this week too.
Northern bays are good on the shell for red fish, trout, & black drum while using live shrimp.
Until next time,
Remember when the cards are down and the bet is called, you have your Ace in the Hole. |
