Fishing Report: Spring is in full swing down in Hatteras despite our recent northeaster. Water temps are in the low 70's and the fish are reacting well. The big reds in the 30-60 pound class have been showing along with some heavy cobias. The spanish mackeral bite has just got started. Flounders are here in decent numbers but the overall size is small. Trout fishing shows early promise however we will need a couple more weeks to see how good a bite this will be. Small reds in the 5-10 pound class are starting to school. Our best half day catch on reds this past week was 56 fish- we had a blast! As usual our May angling crowd has been light so charters are avaliable. Weather has been a factor down here this spring with lots of wind but the pretty days have been productive. Hope you get a chance to get out and do some fishing. Remember to take the kids every chance you get. God bless you all. Ken Dempsey |
