Fishing Report: Florida Pier Fishing
I had to go down to Hurlburt for a seminar, so I figured why not take some leave in my hometown and get some fishing done. Being based in New Jersey does that to you. The bite on the pier was WAY off from this same time last year. I was there for 2 weeks and hardly a King or Spanish was caught.
Bonitas were EVERYWHERE first thing in the AM...Bubble Rigs and Pompano Jigs were the order of the day. It was literally non-stop action on them until about 10AM when someone finally turned off the Fish Faucet...then it was fairly dead. This occurse almost every day.
Sharks also made their presance felt. 5-6 foot Black Tips were plentiful. Some Bull Reds were also in the offing, but not as thick as last year either. If you want to take your kid fishing, or just want a fun day of catching something, then first thing at sunrise is when ya want to go. The Bobo's are fun and strong fighters...a good way to tighten that new line or see a smile on your kids face. Most of the Bo's were under 10Lbs and GREAT fun on light tackle. |
