Fishing Report: November 24, 2005
INSHORE - The windy conditions and dirty water has made the inshore fishing tough. But, for the anglers braving the windy conditions and the cold weather they were rewarded with good catches. The snook have been a little slow to eat but a few fish are being reported around the Taylor Creek Spillway during the day and around the local bridges, dock lines and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet at night. The croakers and weakfish are showing up around the Faber Cove area. Lots of reports of spanish mackerel, bluefish and plenty of jacks around the Ft. Pierce Inlet and in the Turning Basin. Also, reports of scattered pompano, some are good size, being caught to the north of Harbor Branch and to the south of the South bridge. The anglers fishing along the channel edges are reporting snapper, under sized grouper and plenty of jacks and ladyfish which are all fun to catch on light tackle.
OFFSHORE - The sea conditions have been bad to say the least. With the wave height up only a few of the bigger boats are going out and looking around. They didn't have much to report -- a few scattered dolphin out deep, some sailfish are showing up and provided a little action and plenty of sharks. A few small kingfish were reported in 60 to 90 feet of water and the spanish mackerel and bluefish are along the beaches. Hopefully the seas will be better for the S.K.A. Nationals which have been rescheduled for April 2006.
