Fishing Report: The Third Annual Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout
A Bigger and Badder Catch in 2006!
January 5-7, 2006

Virginia Beach, Virginia—Fishing Tournament for January 5 thru 7, 2006
The Third Annual Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout is a first-class tournament designed to promote the excitement of Virginia’s sportfishing tradition. With over 150 boats and well over 600 anglers anticipated to fish this year’s tournament, the Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout just keeps getting bigger and badder each year!
Participants will drive from as far away as Maine, Washington State, California, Texas and Florida to celebrate the sport of fishing and the anticipation of many a prosperous catch in the new year! Although last year’s tournament had to be cancelled due to unfishable conditions, three lucky anglers still split $25,000 and over $5,000 went to charity. This year’s tournament will double the prize money to a payout of $50,000 based on a minimum of 140 boats and projects to payout over $150,000 with calcuttas.
Not only does the Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shoot-Out provide a boost to Virginia Beach’s local economy in the off-season, but it brings a slice of our Southern hospitality to all corners of the country, while also reminding those sportfishing enthusiasts in our own back yard just why they love fishing these shores!
