Fishing Report:
Virginia Striper Fishing Report
Our day started at 8:15 am on Sat. Nov. 26. We started out trolling in 25' of water off of Gwynns Island toward the east went through the cut channel to bouy 42 never got a strike. Several other boats were trolling in the area but we didn't see anyone pick-up anything.
Around 11:30 we spotted birds a couple of miles east north-east of bouy 42 we went to see what was going on and wound up in birds the rest of the day, til 4:45 pm when we called it quits, birds still on the water.We caught between 400 and 500 fish between 15" and 18".
No large ones yet but even this was fun. At one point the birds covered an area from bouy 42 to bouy 36 to the Cell. I've never seen so many birds in one area at one time in all my days. (I grew up in Mathews Co. on the water). We were using 4" soft shad type baits and top water plugs.
The water was like glass for the whole day and the temp. was warmer then we expected. The water was clear to about 6'. This trip came after a dissapointing trip on Thanksgiving day where we caught zero with no strikes. It just shows you it can be feast of famin in the fishing world. Side note:I would like to know if anyone was out there with us on Sat. Nov. 26th trolling did you catch anything worth keeping? |
