Fishing Report:
Virginia Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report
We are now fishing out of VA Beach through the middle of April 2006. Today, we welcomed Mr. Terry “Santa” Hitzelberger and the hard working men from the Ironworkers
Union Local Hall #16 in Baltimore, MD for a total of 5 anglers. Local #16 was founded in 1896 and for the last 109 consecutive years they have been serving the Baltimore area with Iron work that has literally built the city. Yes, I do “have the T-Shirt”!
It was another decent day weather wise, so we took a “flier” and decided to go and see if there were some monster Bluefish out by the CLT like this time last year. YES, THERE WERE PLENTY! It was good decision. T.J. Reiber served as today’s 1st Mate (pictured on far right, squatting in front).
We trolled in the vicinity of the CLT for the entire day. We caught our limit of a whopping 70 (that’s right, 70) Slammer Bluefish from 30” - 36”. We also caught 9 hearty Striped Bass (“Rockfish”) from 33” - 39” (all released while targeting the Bluefish - stupid 3 mile rule). Talk about some great action!!!

A darned shame this one had to go back

Same with “Santa’s”

What a nice mess of Slammers!
