Fishing Report: Man..has it been a full month since my last report? Where do I start..we have been jam slammed fishing everyday and trying to get 2 and 3 boats out everyday has been a job.we have had some stellar catches..there have been plenty of 10 plus wahoo days, 12 gouper days, and 20 tuna days..the bite is still consistent on the Midnight Lump although the size has avg is now about 100 pounds down from 140 pounds..catches of note since the last report include 197 pound yello fin, 80 pound amberjack that had 3 whole beeliner snapper in its stomach, a 101 pound wahoo that had bonita parts for it's last meal, 30 pound yellowegde groupers and a 376 pound mako shark which I caught 4 days ago..we were fishing an area where we had 4 of 6 wahoo attacked by makos the previous days with a group from USM looking to tag cobia.the big shark hit a snapper on the way up and when the fish came floating up there were 2 sharks circling the bloated head..we were able to bait up the larger of the two and the fight was on for nearly two hours on 50 pound stand-up tackle..the fish missed the state record by 34 pounds..Capt. Sonny has been fishing the Cabo at the Lump and has been quite the tuna slayer..he has been averaging 10 blackfin and 4 yellowfins for the last 10 trips including three yellowfins over 150 pounds..I have been focusing on wahoo and grouper and amberjack away from the lump crowd..we have had several days with with 12 or more grouper..the wahoo bite that we were experienceing around the superbowl has slacked from 10-12 fish days to 4-6 fish days..still averaging 40-60 pounds although the 101 pounder was my first fish I have been a part of that broke the century mark..I have included the new updated photos on the home website photo gallery for your amusement as well as this one!..From what I can tell in my grouper fishing, we have released some big red snappers, so we are expecting a great opener in April..still plenty of great days ahead for wahoo, tuna, grouper and amberjacks thes next few months..Paradise Outfitters - 985-845-8006
