VA Beach Rockfishing Report
We are now fishing out of VA Beach from out of Lynnhaven Inlet through the middle of April 2006. Today, we welcomed Mr. Pete Henschel and his 15 year old son. They usually fish near the Magothy River in the Upper Bay but wanted to come down and try the Ocean fishing here in VA Beach. Their 4 other friends that were scheduled for the trip today did not show for fears it would be “too cold”, “too far”, and “too rough”. Well guys, all I can say to you 4 is: “you missed it, fellas”
The NE sea conditions in the morning settled down as the day went on and it turned to be beautiful AND WARM! T.J. Reiber served as 1st Mate today (on left in group picture). We trolled at Cape Henry. We had a good day keeping our limit of 4 rotund Striped Bass (“ Rockfish ”) ranging from 35” up to a whopping 44.5”/30 lb. PIG, which is our biggest fish so far in the Winter ’05 - ‘06 season (see below picture). We also caught and kept 4 boat Rockfish for the Christmas dinner table and released 6 Rockfish from 26” - 34” to fight another day.
Dad took the big fish honors today with this 44/5”/30 lb. HAWG!
Group Shot – You missed it fellas!!!
