Fishing Report: A strange bread of fish that I observed yesterday while scuba diving 5-6 miles off Daytona, Florida. Near a site called the wreck I dropped down 74’. Visibility was only around 10’ so we cruised along the bottom observing the sand creatures (starfish, ect) when we came across what looked like a 12-15” fish resting on the ocean floor as we approached it just laid there and looked at us with its round eyes that moved in its socket. When I reached out and touched its tail, it unfolded what looked like four crab legs on each side stood up on them and casually walked away from us, then rested back down. They where folded back under its body and fins. Its body reminded me of a cross between a catfish and a lizard fish. I have never heard of or saw anything like this. Can you tell me what in the world that could have been? |
