HEADLINES: May 7, 2017:
JC shouted: “I don’t where that pip squeak is, and I will strangle him if don’t do my report, all I do is pay him to write that so called fish report for me”. Ive given that clown a pension, money and I put him up in one of the seediest hotels in Cabo and all the guy does is argue with me and steal my fish recipes!!! JC barked:“The BRITS said they saw him hitch hiking on the main highway towards Buena Vista and if I'm right, he probably went to that Salsa Dance class he takes over there every Sunday and the idiot always takes that stupid Trombone with him. The guy thinks he's John Travolta and Louis Armstrong all in one, don’t worry about him, he will be back”!!!

Fishreportboy Screamed: Look kids, I went to the ranch to see Chris that’s all, and yes I do Salsa Dance but only on weekends and I still practice my Tombone, so what about it? Yea, the Brits make fun of me saying that I used to carry around my Trombone and a Beeper around waiting for a gig. Them Brits used to say: “Whats the most desperate musican in the world”? Answer: “A Trombone player with a beeper”! Those Limys think there funny guys! Wait till they try some of JC,s Yorkshire Pudding. The worst stuff I ever tasted in my life, and to think JC thinks hes a chef, what a buffon!!!!Well I am going to get this stupid report out before Chris, JC and the whole crew get there knickers in an uproar.!!! Hard for me to believe anyone actually reads this garbage, me a writer LOL, hell, I was lucky to get out of the 5th grade. I fished farm ponds since I was knee high, but I got that sucker JC to actually pay me to write this so called fish report. I laugh everytime I cash my check JC?

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Still about the same as last week with nice days and some wind in the afternoons and evening. We have had some very nice weather over the past week. I was out last night and we had some pretty strong north winds that were pretty cool, looks as if they were coming off the Pacific. I think in the afternoons if your fishing on the pacific side expect some rough rides as it has been blowing pretty good in the afternoons. Really as far as temperatures its been really warm in the day time with mostly sunny days and cooler evenings.

WATER: Well, there is a huge difference in the water temperatures on the East Cape compared to closer to Cabo on the Pacific side where there is like a 10 degree difference in water. East Cape some areas are 84 degrees and here close to Cabo on the Pacific it is 74 degrees and colder in some spots, so quite the contrast and this will effect the fishing in both areas as we will be catching something completely different from them boys on the East Cape.

BILLFISH: The Marlin fishing has been just ok. Very unpredictable for Marlin and it has been hit and miss basically. There some to be lots of Marlin around but getting them to bite is another story. It seems there is lots of squid in the water and they are full already on some occasions. I understand the fish are spawing and that’s another story and could have something with the way they are biting.

Striped Marlin being landed from Light House to the 95 spot and most are being caught with live bait, lures and ballyhoo. The average size of marlin being caught is 90lb to 150lb which is basically the Striped Marlin average size. So no shortage of fishing action this past week with our boats doing very well on all species.

DORADO: Well, we are all excited and amazed that we are starting to see a Dorado bite in the area. We are hoping they will start to school up, but it is still pretty early for them.

They are starting to show up in better numbers but still nothing major yet. Some of the fish being caught have been 20lb to 30lb but mostly smaller ones inshore. As far as Dorado goes it has probably been the worst year we have had for Dorado, maybe things are changing.

SWORDFISH: Havent heard of any caught this week.

WAHOO: A few being landed down towards Gordo Banks.

TUNA: The action for Tuna hasn’t been to good over last couple weeks. There has been a few around but mostly football size fish, but no major schools that I have heard of lately.

INSHORE: Jigging iron for Yellowtail and Amber Jacks has been productive at Chileno Bay and Grey Rock. The pangas have been doing well with Roosters with some nice ones being landed and ranging from 15lb to 40lbThe Rooster fishing has been going off up and around the Light House on the pacific.Pangas are having a pretty rough ride this week on the pacific side, but for the hardcore fisherman they love that stuff. So if your into getting wet and sloppy in a Panga head on out cause the action is good inshore. Also, some guys have been catching Skip Jack and Jack Crevail close to shore.
From The Admirals Kitchen!
JC,s Seared Grilled Tuna Steaks!!
Yield:4 servings
Level:Easy
Ingredients
4 (1-inch-thick) fresh tuna steaks (about 4 pounds)
Olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
To grill the tuna, get a charcoal or stove-top cast-iron grill very hot. Brush the fish with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill each side for only 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. The center should be raw, like sushi, or the tuna will be tough and dry. Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes and serve.

Salad JC,s with Seared Tuna!!
Ingredients
Vinaigrette:
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 tablespoons minced fresh tarragon
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Salad:
1 pound small red new potatoes, scrubbed and halved
8 large eggs
1/2 pound haricots verts or French green beans, stems trimmed
2 pounds fresh sushi-quality tuna
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pint teardrop or cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup olives
16 anchovy fillets
16 caper berries with stems
1/2 bunch fresh chives, snipped in ½

Directions
To make the vinaigrette: combine all ingredients in a mason jar. Screw the cap on the jar and shake the vinaigrette vigorously to emulsify. Set the dressing aside while preparing the salad so the flavors can marry.

Cooking the potatoes, eggs, and green beans in the same pot cuts down on prep time and clean up. To do this, put the potatoes in a large saucepan, add water to cover and a nice pinch of salt; bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer the potatoes for 12 minutes to give them a head start, and then add the eggs. Place a steamer basket or colander on top of the simmering water. Put the green beans in the steamer and cover with a lid. Steam the beans for 5 minutes until crisp-tender while continuing to cook the potatoes until fork tender. Drain out the water and put the potatoes, eggs, and green beans in a colander; rinse briefly under cold water. Peel the shells off the eggs and cut them in 1/2 lengthwise.

Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Rub the tuna on all sides with olive oil, and a bit of the vinaigrette; season with a fair amount of salt and pepper. Lay the tuna in the hot pan and sear for approximately 2 minutes on each side; as the tuna cooks, the red meat will become whiter. Transfer the tuna to a cutting board and slice.

To assemble the salad: combine the potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, olives, anchovies, capers, and chives in a large mixing bowl. Take the vinaigrette and give it another good shake to recombine. Drizzle the salad with enough vinaigrette to fully moisten and toss gently to coat; season with salt and pepper. Take care not to mush up the ingredients - the important thing about salad JC,s is that it is arranged nicely on a platter with all the elements keeping their individual integrity. Put the tossed salad down the center of a serving platter and lay the seared tuna attractively across the top and the eggs around the rim. Drizzle with the remaining vinaigrette and serve.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.com http://youtu.be/tSXN6pifQyQ
