Fishing Report: Naples Florida 10,000 Island's Fishing Report
Archived Report from April
With each day getting warmer, and bait flooding our area fishing pattern's are changing. For the past couple monthes before the bait was present, fly fishing has been the number one method for producing fish. Although now, with all the influx of bait, it's getting tougher to fool them with chicken feather's. Fish are migrating toward's the out side near the passes where the bait is gathering. the first part of the flooding tide has been quite consistent.
The past two week's have been non stop with charter's, and the magority of them have been bait fishing. Collecting bait on the near shore wreck's or marker bouy's has been stable with a good supply of scaled sardines, and small thread fin herring.
Snook fishing is getting better every trip as well as tarpon. The red fish are still around, but the number's are starting to fade a bit. Snook have been reckless on the incoming tide providing some nice fish around the passes. As the tide fill's in the snook are filtering back to the inside bay's searching for a good spot to hide out of the current waiting for the tide to bring them food. Any where the current is pushing up against a point is worth checking out.
Tarpon as well are becoming more numerous each day. I have been seeing more bigger fish in the 100 pound range than the smaller nipper's you usually find in the creek's. The fish are laying up in the bigger bay's on the top of the flood tide resting and waiting for a tasty morsel to swim by. Be extremely quiet and take your time and you should be able to find them.
So get out there and find some hungry fish, and have a good time! Remember it's all about enjoying yourself on the water away from the everyday hussle. So until the next time, tight lines and sceaming drag's to all.
